RB: The development of new materials and techniques.OPN: What are your thoughts on surgeons who receive financial benefits for using a company’s products? RB: It depends on what the benefits are. To spend on research and development is useful and needed.OPN: Are patients becoming too knowledgeable on joint replacement and the implants that are used? RB: Not at all, they have commercial knowledge, however all medical background is lacking.OPN: Is it right that surgeons are rated and reviewed by patients on the website www.iwantgreatcare.org? RB: I do not see it as a big issue.OPN: What aspect of the industry would you change, if you could? RB: Honesty and patient interest seems to be underdeveloped sometimes.
