The Podalux shoe from DonJoy is primarily designed for use after Hallux Valgus surgery. A removable rigid foot plate provides extra firmness during the early stages of rehabilitation. This plate can be removed during the latter stages of rehabilitation.

Early testing shows partial restriction of metatarsal phalangeal joints, with around 30 – 40% offload of the forefoot compared to barefoot pressures. Ankle and knee patterns of movement are normal.

Without the insert there is still a partial restriction, although more movement is possible at the metatarsal phalangeal joints than with the insert, with no off loading of forefoot. Ankle and knee patterns of movement are normal.

Podalux also has a toe cover and is lined with breathable micromesh textile for patient comfort. Available in 5 sizes and fits left or right.
