Sameer Mistry

Sameer is a board member of J&J’s UK & Ireland medical devices business, and has medical responsibility for its broad portfolio of products, including DePuy Synthes, Ethicon, Mentor (breast surgery) and Biosense Webster (cardiology). Immediately prior to this role, Sameer was Regional Medical Director for DePuy Synthes Europe, the orthopaedics and trauma division of Johnson & Johnson’s Medical Devices group. In this role he helped to build the medical function for DePuy Synthes in the region, and played a major role in providing safety oversight for several products.

Sameer graduated in history and medicine from the University of Manchester, and originally trained as a junior doctor in surgery in Nottingham. During this time Sameer qualified as a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons.

Sameer joined Johnson & Johnson in 2005, and prior to his roles in the medical devices sector, he held various medical affairs and clinical research positions at Janssen, J&J’s pharmaceutical division. During his time at Janssen Sameer was involved in a wide variety of therapy areas, including psychiatry, neurology, antibiotics, infectious diseases and dermatology. Of note, in 2012 Sameer was seconded to the UK Department of Health for 9 months, where his role was to advise senior healthcare leaders on policy to improve patient access to innovative new treatments.
