1-2 December 2025, AI in Orthopaedics and MSK; London

Following the success of last year’s AI conference, AI24 and the previous ones , the British Orthopaedic Association are preparing for a similar event this year, AI25

The feedback we have received from last year’s conference where we ran an instructional course on the first day and a standard type of scientific meeting on day 2 has been very positive and so, for the most part the format will follow the same pattern.

Day 1 will be biased towards the technical aspects of AI but with more worked examples. During the day, the Hackathon will be repeated and the afternoon will be devoted to workshops to fit all skill levels. We are planning that these will be more interactive and based on real life AI projects, hopefully mainly submitted by the delegates

During the second day, as before, we are expecting more podium presentations than previously and again there will be keynote speeches on several closely related topics. We are very much hoping that members of His Majesty’s Government and the Civil Service will be present to speak and to listen.

We expect to arrange a separate “Help desk” for Coding and for obtaining a patent.

It is likely that we will be joined by another similar organisation to add another dimension to the meeting.

We are expecting this meeting to have an international flavour and invitations are being extended to the BOA’s sister organisations.

Again, there will be an area for posters. There will be a prize for the best poster. All attendees will be invited to mark / comment on the posters via the meeting App.

Owners of the posters will be at their poster for a chat during the refreshment breaks.

To produce the best effect and for your poster to fit the boards we have available, your poster must be A0 Portrait alignment (841mm wide x 1189mm), please DO NOT exceed this size. Poster presenters will be asked to ensure that their poster is mounted on the poster board that corresponds with their abstract number.

Funding for researchers: This year, there will be desks manned by funding organisations to whom delegates can discuss their projects

The Gwen Fish charity will support the Gwen Fish Lecture and again fund prizes for:

· The best podium presentations

· The best posters

· The best contribution by a medical student.

· The best Essay

New this year!: PRIZE for the:

“The development of an innovative AI technology that will improve the care of patients”

Applicants wishing to submit a presentation for this prize will need to submit an outline of their work by October 1st.

The closure date for general abstracts for posters and podium presentations is September 1st and those wishing to make a podium or poster presentation need to do this on line on our website. Applicants for podium and poster presentations will be informed of the organiser’s decision by the end of September at the latest

The closure date for the best Essay will be October 17th. The winner will be invited to give a 5 minute presentation of their work at the end of the second day.

Sponsorship

We are open for sponsorship. There will be several levels and we are keen to make this meeting as cheap as possible to delegates, many of whom will be medical students or enthusiasts relatively early in their careers.

Anyone interested in sponsoring the event should contact the BOA. Sponsorship packages are now available.

Essay competition:

We invite anyone who is attending to write up to 1000 words on the following subject:

“AI in MSK, the Good, the Bad and the ugly”

The closure date will be Oct 17th 2025
