Introducing the latest prosthesis a unique modular implant system for the hemiprosthetic or total replacement of the first metartarsophalangeal joint (MPJ). The Toefit-Plus offers new benefits to the MPJ market. An innovative non-cemented, self-tapping, threaded taper design secures primary fixation of the Toefit-Plus directly with the corticocancellous bone of the first metatarsal and the proximal phalanx of the great toe.
Secondary fixation is subsequently achieved as the grit blasted osteophilic titanium surface of the prosthesis stimulates osseointegration with the host bone. Design modularity of the Toefit-Plus allows for, not only the anatomical patterns of each patient to be matched but, also, for intraoperative choice of hemi or total joint replacement to be performed, should the need arise.
All parts of the Toefit-Plus in contact with bone are made from titanium alloy. Hemiarthroplasty has a CoCr insert articulating with the metatarsal head and total joint replacement has a CoCr metatarsal insert articulating with a PE insert in the phalangeal component. An easy-to-use instrument set and well thought out surgical technique guide ensures that surgery is then made as simple as possible.
