When you need a pre-formed and sterile temporary implant, the Tecres Spacer device is your solution allowing partial weight bearing. The devices are indicated for the management of infected joint revision in two stages.

Spacer G for hip and Spacer K for knee are loaded with gentamicin antibiotic. Elution profiles confirm the leaching of antibiotic into the joint space at levels well in excess of therapeutic requirements, over prolonged periods of time. A range of sizes are available, including a long stem hip option, useful where bone proximal femoral lysis is a consideration.

The major benefit of the Spacer device to the patient and to the hospital is that following the implantation of the Spacer, functional weight bearing is allowed, thus it is very likely that the patient can be discharged from hospital.
