Planmed’s ‘Verity’ Mobile Extremity CBCT Scanner has been awarded a CE-mark and is now available for sale in the United Kingdom and EU markets. This milestone completes a long and challenging research and development project that has taken advantage of the multi-disciplinary expertise found across the Planmeca Group, which will establish Planmed as significant player in the orthopaedic imaging market.

The Planmed Verity is a completely new imaging concept that utilises proven 3D imaging technology in a new and exciting way. Almost a decade ago, Planmeca introduced Cone Beam CT (CBCT) technology to the dental imaging market and now Planmed, a Planmeca group company, brings this revealing diagnostic technology into orthopaedic imaging departments, emergency departments and orthopaedic practices.

Xograph Healthcare is the UK distributor for the Verity and Neil Staff, Technical Director at Xograph, commented: “We congratulate Planmed and their achievement in gaining market approvals for the Verity; all their hard work has paid off. I first saw the Verity at RSNA 2010 and was fascinated by its ability to perform weight-bearing CT and by its potential in scaphoid trauma imaging. I took the decision to showcase the system at the 6th Congress and exhibition of the joint societies of Paediatric Radiology 2011(London) and UKRC 2011 (Manchester) where Verity created significant interest from delegates. I now look forward to seeing the system in clinic use in the UK and to patients benefiting from Verity’s advanced diagnostic capabilities.”
