Bristol hip surgeon is the only uk doctor to be awarded position on international travelling fellowship
Specialist orthopaedic consultant from Spire The Glen Hospital Bristol, Mr Jason Webb, has been awarded a place on a highly sought-after travelling fellowship to North America
The Bristol surgeon is one of just four candidates and the only one from the UK who will set off on the Rothman-Ranawat Travelling Fellowship on 28th March 2015.
For Mr Webb, the once-in-a-lifetime trip will present the opportunity to bring new practices in surgical approaches, operation and theatre efficiency, and new techniques to his Bristol practice, which will directly benefit his patients.
Nurturing the talents of the South West hip surgeon, the Fellowship will introduce Mr Webb to the world’s most prominent specialists in adult joint reconstruction whom he will join in scientific conferences and surgical observations. He will also get the chance to visit state-of-the-art facilities offering exemplary surgical care of the hip joint.
After submitting his CV and being interviewed by the British Hip Society committee, Mr Webb was chosen above others in his field for his specialist expertise in the Prevention and Treatment of Orthopaedic Infection.
Mr Jason Webb, consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Spire The Glen Hospital Bristol and North Bristol NHS Trust commented: “I am honoured to have been selected for the Rothman-Ranawat Travelling Fellowship. The educational and inspiring trip will provide me with some valuable insights that will enhance my practice and directly benefit my patients in Bristol. I also hope to build valuable professional relationships with hip specialists in the US and form lasting alliances.
“One of the most exciting parts of the trip for me will be to visit the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York and the Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, these are leading centres of excellence in orthopaedic surgical treatment.”
As part of the trip, the travelling fellows will visit up to 12 sites in North America within a period of approximately four weeks, starting in Las Vegas at the AAOS (American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons) 2015 Annual Meeting and Specialty Day.
