Frimley Park Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has recently installed its sixth ARCADIS® Varic C-arm from Siemens Healthcare. The hospital received its first Varic in 2007 and has continued to boost its facilities with five more due to demand. The systems were chosen for their excellent image quality plus robust and compact design, which is ideal for transportation throughout the hospital’s 18 theatres.
The Varic systems are available for use 24 hours a day and are mainly used for orthopaedic procedures as part of the hospital’s Trauma and Orthopaedic Department, one of the largest in south east England. The systems are also used for urology procedures, general surgery, vascular procedures and a daily pain clinic. Since the installation of the latest Varic, the hospital has benefitted from increased throughput along with eased organisational pressures of allocating the systems throughout various theatres.
“We have a high demand for the ARCADIS Varic C-arms within our theatres and they are in constant use. Clinicians find them easy to use and we have been provided with great training and support from the Siemens Healthcare applications team,” states Veronica Pulleyn, Senior Radiographer and Theatre Co-ordinator at Frimley Park Hospital. “The compact footprint and robust design means they can be easily transported as they are regularly moved around our 18 theatres.”
“We have maintained an excellent relationship with Frimley Park Hospital as it has continued to invest in ARCADIS Varic systems to support theatre and trauma needs,” states Andreas Hadjiphanis, Regional Sales Manager at Siemens Healthcare. “The multipurpose system is designed to support a wide range of procedures and is ideal for easy patient access thanks to the flexibility and versatility of this mobile C-arm.”
