Medical education has always been the beating heart of Arthrex’s spirit for innovation
Due to the revolutionary nature of arthroscopic surgery, medical education for surgeons and theatre staff has been critical since Arthrex was founded in 1981.
The Arthrex mission statement, Helping Surgeons Treat their Patients BetterTM, has remained unchanged since founder Reinhold Schmeiding developed his first arthroscopic excision instrument.
In 2012, Arthrex introduced the MobileLab concept to the UK to provide medical education directly to hospitals in a more dynamic format, subsequently winning a Special Commendation for Innovation award from the British Orthopaedic Association at the BOA congress in 2013 (pictured below).
Now, in 2019, Arthrex are excited to launch the Futures registrar-training programme utilising a brand new, UK specific, MobileLab – the latest in the European fleet. Arthrex have developed the innovative Futures registrar training agendas for core specialities including knee, shoulder and foot and ankle. Working with our key teaching centres and consultant partners throughout the UK, the Futures programme will allow Arthrex to deliver on site registrar medical education to a previously unrivalled level. The new MobileLab features solar panels along the full length and width of the roof as part of Arthrex’s global commitment to environmental sustainability.
The Futures programme is the final piece in Arthrex’s UK surgeon medical education pathway, alongside the Fellowship Forum and consultant Masterclass educational initiatives that already take place in the state-of-the-art, 40-workstation ArthroLab facility in Munich, Germany.
This continued
investment is indicative of Arthrex’s unique dedication to medical education
and, central to this, Arthrex
has remained privately held without external investors. This allows Arthrex to
invest in medical education, unconstrained by the limitations of answering to
shareholders.
Contact your local Arthrex representative if you would like to learn more about the Futures programme and the latest on our innovative educational initiatives.
